Golden Knights unveil new Season X design and face mockery from fans

The Golden Knights rolled a fresh sheet of ice out this week, and the centerpiece is impossible to miss.

The 10th anniversary crest sits inside a bold X, with a sword cutting through the middle and the numbers 17 and 27 tucked into the shield to mark the franchises first and upcoming milestone seasons.

Wrapped around the outside of it all is a ring of alternating red and black pockets that looks exactly like the wheel from a roulette table, gold rim and all.

It did not take long for hockey accounts to start having fun with it.

Within hours of the reveal photos hitting social media, replies were filled with jokes about placing bets before puck drop and whether the visiting team gets a spin before the opening faceoff.

It is not the first time this logo era has drawn a mixed reaction either.

When the standalone Season X crest first went public back in July, plenty of longtime fans pushed back on the direction, arguing the design leaned too hard into an obvious Vegas cliche instead of doing something fresh for a milestone year.

Not everyone is on board with the criticism though.

Plenty of fans online have pointed out that a roulette wheel is about as on brand as it gets for a franchise built entirely around Sin City identity, and that leaning into the theme is exactly what separates Vegas from every other logo in the league.

The design will be under the skates for every home game this year as Vegas opens its 10th season at home against Chicago on September 29, with a Stanley Cup Final rematch against Carolina circled for December.

Love it or hate it, the ice is staying exactly as is for the whole campaign.
