The Vancouver Canucks are in must-win territory down the stretch, and now they have had to make some moves after an illness has hit their locker room.
With 10 games to go in the 2024/25 season, the Vancouver Canucks are facing must-win games every night out as they look to chase down the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference Wild Card race.
Unfortunately, they've now been hit by the flu in the locker room, as goaltender Kevin Lankinen missed some time earlier in the week, and now, it appears to be spreading.
On Friday, the team recalled forward Max Sasson on an emergency basis, with the likelihood that another member of the current lineup could miss time over the next few days.
Following that, insider Rick Dhaliwal suggested that it could be centre Teddy Blueger to miss time, as he simply wondered aloud if it would be Blueger to miss their must-win battle against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.
In 24 games for the Canucks this year, 24-year old Sasson tallied 2 goals and 6 points with a solid +2 differential, and if he is brought in to the lineup, there's confidence that he could do a job.
With Filip Chytil out due to a concussion, things are simply getting worse and worse for Vancouver, and if they can't overcome these injuries and illnesses, there's a chance they may shock the NHL world and miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs all together following an incredible 2023/24 campaign.
