Elias Pettersson may be done in Vancouver in the near future, and now we know two contenders looking to land the Canucks star centre.
The Vancouver Canucks came into 2025/26 with plenty of hope, but with the season just past the half way mark, they officially sit in 32nd place in the NHL standings with a record of 16-25-5.
The team have already traded captain Quinn Hughes for a haul of future assets, and with the organization clearly looking towards the future, there's a chance they become the top sellers in the league ahead of the trade deadline.

While attention has turned to the likes of Kiefer Sherwood and Conor Garland, the team could also consider moving their top remaining star in Elias Pettersson, who has had a major bounce back season in 2025/26.
After a career low last year, Pettersson has posted 13 goals and 28 points in 38 games played, and while those numbers don't pop, with a major lack of talent around him, that's very impressive production for the 27-year old.
On the latest episode of The Chris Johnston Show, one of the NHL's top insiders discussed Pettersson's future, and while there's no guarantee that he's on the move, it appears as though two teams are emerging as favourites to land him if he is indeed dealt.
LA Kings are losing Anze Kopitar at the end of the year, you wonder about a fit there. I could see the Detroit Red Wings having interest in someone like Pettersson. - Chris Johnston
As of right now, it's not exactly clear what EP40's trade value is, but given that we've seen him be a 100-point scorer in the past, there's definitely still plenty of upside in the 27-year old.
Ultimately though, Vancouver have very little depth down the middle beyond Pettersson, so they may not want to move him at all, but with the team pushing for a rebuild, don't be shocked to see interest ramp up in Pettersson in the coming weeks.
