Quinn Hughes directly addresses trade rumours: 'if we were winning there would be no conversation'
Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes is embroiled in trade rumours and has directly addressed them by saying he wouldn't be if the team was winning more.
There isn't a whole lot going right for the Vancouver Canucks right now, who would miss the playoffs for a second straight year if they were to begin today.
Right now, there are multiple players embroiled in trade rumours, the
most visible of whom is captain Quinn Hughes.
Hughes, who has another year left on his contract before he can become a UFA in 2027, is well aware that his name has popped up in trade rumours.
But he
also acknowledged that wouldn't be the case if the Canucks were winning more games.
I mean, I think this is all about winning games. If we were winning games, Jim wouldn't have said that. I don't exactly know what he said because I'm not on Twitter or anything, but I heard the gist of it, and I think, like I said, if we were winning games, there would be no conversation about this. - Quinn Hughes
So far this year, Hughes has 22 points (2G, 20A) in 19 games played.
Quinn Hughes Could Soon Be On The Move From The Canucks
The Canucks are 10-12-2, which is the second worst record in the Pacific Division. The Canucks are also only two years removed from winning the Pacific Division under head coach Rick Tocchet, who has since moved on and is now the coach of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Having to trade Hughes would represent a low point in Canucks, as he's easily the top defenseman they've had in their history.
