Oilers get bad news on multiple players as injuries mount
The Edmonton Oilers haven't been at their best early this season, and now, they've been struck with more bad news as injuries continue to mount.
After reaching back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, 2025/26 was the season the Edmonton Oilers were supposed to come out of the gates hot, especially after the contract extension of captain Connor McDavid.
However, they've been one of the worst defensive groups in the entire league to this point, with their goaltending becoming one of the biggest question marks in the league after recent struggles.
Oilers injuries continue to mount with bad news on two players
Another issue for Edmonton thus far has been their health, and now they've got bad news on two more players, starting with Kasperi Kapanen, who has missed the last five weeks of action.
Recent reports speculated he could be circling a return, but after the latest incident, captured by Ryan Rishaug on X, that may no longer be the case for the talented winger.
Then, there's veteran Jack Roslovic, who has stepped into a crucial role for Edmonton this season, with Head Coach Kris Knoblauch revealing his uncertainty for Roslovic to play over the weekend.
He is questionable for Saturday. I don't know right now if he will play or how long he might be out.
That comes after Roslovic missed practice following a blocked shot in the Oilers latest blowout defeat at the hands of the Dallas Stars, with the talented forward potentially set to miss some time.
Ultimately, the Oilers need to get healthy and make some moves if they are to be considered a top contender in the Western Conference this season, but if the injuries keep piling up, the hole they need to dig themselves out of may get deeper and deeper.
