Canucks analyst Rick Dhaliwal has revealed that Vancouver checked in with the Edmonton Oilers to see if they'd be willing to take back Evander Kane, but were reportedly rejected.

There is almost nothing going right for the Vancouver Canucks, who recently lost 5-0 to the Toronto Maple Leafs for what is now their sixth straight loss, and have tied them for last in the Western Conference with the Winnipeg Jets.
There are multiple players involved in trade rumours, including Kiefer Sherwood, Conor Garland, and Elias Pettersson.
Another player who is involved in trade rumours is Evander Kane, who is playing in his first year in a Canucks sweater after being acquired from the Edmonton Oilers.
Per a new report from Canucks analyst Rick Dhaliwal, the Canucks have even checked in with the Oilers to see if they'd be willing to take back Kane, but were rebuffed.

So far this year, Kane has 20 points (6G, 14A) in 43 games.

Evander Kane Was Acquired From The Oilers During The Summer

Kane, who had played the last several years with the Oilers and gone twice in a row to the Stanley Cup Final, was acquired by the Canucks for a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
It was a homecoming for Kane, who is from Vancouver, but things haven't worked out the way that either the Canucks or Kane thought they would when he came aboard.
The Canucks are easily on track to miss the playoffs for a second straight year.
Kane is in the last year of his deal with an AAV (average annual value) of $5.125 million and can be a UFA on July 1.
