The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly ready for a fire sale according to Elliotte Friedman, but now he's had some pushback from Allan Walsh on a top veteran.
After a horror performance in 2024/25, many were expecting a bounce back season from the Vancouver Canucks in 2025/26, and while they've been much better, this still isn't a team that's dominating.
Through their first 23 games of the season, Vancouver are 9-12-2, sitting in seventh place in the Pacific Division, and unsurprisingly, that's led to plenty of speculation over their future and their veteran players.
Elliotte Friedman gets pushback from Allan Walsh
On Monday, Elliotte Friedman addressed the trade speculation over the Canucks, stating that the team were
listening to offers on every veteran not named
Quinn Hughes, whose future has also been a major talking point in Vancouver dating back to the summer.
While it makes sense that the team would entertain moving some key veterans, agent Allan Walsh interjected on social media, calling out Friedman for placing players like his client
Filip Hronek in these talks, especially when he has a No Movement Clause.
Kind of funny when people in media speculate on a player and the potential of a trade without also mentioning the player has a Full No Move Clause.
Perhaps Friedman was speaking in broad terms and didn't want to go into the specifics on a certain player, but to mention 'all the veterans' on the team and not go into the NMC and the possibility that some players can't be moved is a mistake from Friedman.
That doesn't mean that Hronek isn't open to waiving that NMC if the team do look for a fire sale, but for now, the veteran blue liner is at home in Vancouver, and with the NMC, it's unlikely that he'll be moved at any point this season.
