The Maple Leafs are off to a shocking start in 2025/26, but in keeping positive, star forward William Nylander remains hopeful that they can turn things around.

While the Toronto Maple Leafs have failed to go deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs during their 'Core Four' era, one thing they did consistently was dominate the regular season with their talented squad.
After losing Mitch Marner this off-season however, things have taken a major nose dive, and with the recent injury to captain Auston Matthews, they've stumbled to 8-9-2 on the season, falling in five straight games.

William Nylander remains positive about Toronto's chances

However, they're still just 19 games into the season, and while fans may be less than optimistic about their chances, star winger William Nylander remains upbeat on the team's ability to turn things around.
I mean we're losing but I think we're feeling positive and hopefully trending in the right direction. If this keeps going another month then maybe we'd be in a different mood.
This season, Nylander is one of few players producing at a high level for Toronto, with 8 goals and 26 points in 16 games proving that the talent to win in the regular season is still there for this team, with his positive attitude and leadership key to turning things around.
Whether it comes from the coach, a change to the roster or simply getting healthy, something has to break for this team to turn things around, and with Nylander noting that the locker room remains positive, there's always a chance that they can get things going and make a post-season push yet in 2025/26.
