William Nylander says the Maple Leafs must talk more when their structure falls apart after a 3-2 loss to Utah, with John Tavares possibly back Saturday.
William Nylander thinks the Toronto Maple Leafs have a communication problem to fix, and he said so after practice.
The winger told reporters the group needs to talk to each other more whenever their structure starts to fall apart on the ice.
The comment came a day after Toronto dropped a 3-2 decision to the Utah Mammoth at home on Tuesday night.
“I think just getting a little bit sorted. You know, sometimes when the system breaks down, just to sort it out a little bit, talk a little bit more.”

The Leafs were badly outplayed through the first two periods, and Sergei Bobrovsky bounced back with a strong effort that kept them in it.
Utah controlled the pace
Utah was faster, hunted pucks harder and left the Leafs with very little room to work.
Toronto did push late, piling up pressure in the offensive zone over the final minute, but the Mammoth hung on.
Nylander nearly had one himself. He beat Sebastian Cossa five hole, only to watch the puck ring off the post.
Nylander shrugged it off afterward.
His view was that the chances were there, and some nights those just don't go in.
He is already focused on flushing the loss and chasing two points Saturday night.
Tavares is back on the ice
There was good news at practice too.
John Tavares was back skating in a red non-contact jersey and took reps on the left side of the second line alongside Nylander and Nick Paul.
Nylander said it would be a real lift to have Tavares ready for Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, pointing to how well he plays and what he brings as a leader in the room.
Toronto will be hoping to clean things up fast.
