James Reimer has been around the block in the NHL, and now he returns to the Toronto Maple Leafs after signing a professional tryout deal.
Between 2010 and 2016, James Reimer was the No. 1 goaltender in Toronto, and during that span he played a crucial role in the team's success before being moved on by the organization.
Since then, he's played in San Jose, Florida, Carolina, Detroit, Buffalo and Anaheim, and at 37-years of age, it appears that his days as a starter in the National Hockey League are well and truly over.

However, he still showed his immense talent a season ago after posting a 2.85 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 22 games with the Buffalo Sabres, and now, he's found a new home in the NHL.
It's a very familiar one, as Reimer has
signed a professional tryout with the Maple Leafs, returning to the organization for the first time in a decade as he looks to continue his career in the NHL.
This is an especially good move for Toronto, as
Joseph Woll has been quite injury prone through his young career, with Reimer potentially working as fantastic depth alongside the young
Dennis Hildeby, who showed promise a season ago.
Only time will tell whether or not Toronto sign him to a full deal and keep him in the AHL as a depth goaltender, but given how high their hopes are in 2025/26, having insurance at the level of Reimer is always going to be a good move.
