Per a new report from analyst Nick Kypreos, there was nearly a trade in place between the Utah Hockey Club and the Carolina Hurricanes involving goaltender Connor Ingram.
One of the teams who could use some goaltending depth is the Carolina Hurricanes, who have a pair of capable starting-calibre players at the position but would prefer to supplement their presence with added depth.
Per a new report from analyst Nick Kypreos, the Hurricanes and Utah Hockey Club nearly made a trade with one another involving goaltender Connor Ingram.
Connor Ingram Nearly Traded to Carolina This Summer, Could He Land There On Waivers?
Ingram was recently
placed on waivers by Utah, who are now known as the Mammoth after going their 1st year in Salt Lake City simply known as the Utah Hockey Club.
Utah is rolling forward this year with the combination of
Karel Vejmelka and recent Florida Panthers Stanley Cup champion
Vitek Vanecek, which made Ingram expendable.
He remains on waivers for only a few more hours to be claimed by any of the 31 other NHL clubs, and he'll be sent to the American Hockey League if he goes unclaimed.
Ingram recently also disclosed the heartbreaking reason why he entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, as he admitted to needing help dealing with the unfortunate loss of his mother to breast cancer.
He made it clear that even though most view the program as being for players who struggle with substance abuse, it's also useful for players who are struggling with their mental health and well-being.
We'll see what's next for Ingram, whether it's Carolina, or another team. Hopefully, it'll be the fresh start he needs and deserves.
