Connor Ingram was waived on Thursday, and now the veteran goaltender has revealed the tragic reason why he entered the Player Assistance Program.

The Utah Mammoth are looking to improve upon their goaltending, and with the addition of Vitek Vanacek, it was only a matter of time until they moved on from veteran Connor Ingram.
After weeks of trade speculation, the organization finally made the move on Thursday, officially placing the 28-year old goaltender on waivers and parting ways with him for good.

Ingram opens up on the tough 2024/25 season

This comes after a season in which his time on the ice was cut short, as Ingram famously entered the NHLPA's Player Assistance Program, officially departing the program this off-season in preparation for a return in 2025/26.
Now, he's opened up on the heartbreaking reason why he needed help, revealing on social media that his mother's passing and the grieving that goes along with it was the reason why he needed the help.
For those of you that don't know. This season I lost my mother to breast cancer.

After trying to make a return to playing, I have come to realize that I am not myself. At this point in my life I need to put my health first and take the proper time I need away to come back at 100%. Though many view the program as a resource for substance abuse, I want to recognize all that they do.

I am once again privileged to have access to their network of word class health professionals to hopefully avoid long-term negative effects of putting your health second. With the program's assistance, I look forward to getting the medical help I need and returning to a happy and healthy life.
Obviously, this was a message written some time ago, but it shows immense strength to open up on such a tough battle, with so many people opting to play and work their way through this alone.
At 28-years of age, Ingram still has a very bright future ahead of himself, and now that he appears ready for a return, don't be surprised to see several teams targeting him after he's now officially hit waivers.
