Former NHL head coach John Tortorella is exposing the major problem that the League has with the head of the Department of Player Safety, George Parros, after his consistently inconsistent rulings.

There have been few bigger areas of frustration for hockey fans in recent years than the inconsistent rulings of George Parros, who has been the head of the NHL Department of Player Safety for years now.
His most recent ruling was to suspend Anaheim Ducks captain Radko Gudas for five games for his kneeing incident against Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, but just about everyone feels that was too light of a punishment.

John Tortorella Gets Involved in Gudas/Matthews Story

Now, former NHL head coach John Tortorella is exposing the major problem that the League has with Parros in charge of player safety, saying that it's far too inconsistent.
George Parros is one of the greatest guys around, a terrific guy and he has one of the toughest jobs around...they always talk about a repeat offender, right? This is a guy that's been brought up so many times in this type of situation, and now one of the stars in the game that they're trying to protect is done for the year. I just don't get it, some of the reasoning on how they come up with five, ten or whatever these suspensions are. They just can't figure it out. - John Tortorella

George Parros' Radko Gudas Ruling Causes Controversy

Plenty of Maple Leafs players, along with coach Craig Berube, were upset that Gudas wasn't more severely punished.
By the time that Gudas serves out his suspension, it will be a total of 26 games that he's been banned for during his NHL career for hurting opponents.
It's understandable that the Maple Leafs are angry that Gudas wasn't more severely punished, especially since they won't have Matthews for the rest of the year.
