Seravalli: Maple Leafs Remain Frontrunner to Sign Top Available Free Agent

NHL free agency and the off-season in general have been rather slow, with only extensions and smaller signings announced in the recent months of a very quiet summer for the league.

However, there are still a few intriguing players available, with none more talented that 28-year old centre Jack Roslovic, who spent last season having a very productive campaign with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Thus far, there's been interest in Roslovic from several teams, but nothing has come to fruition, and with training camp right around the corner, it's no surprise that speculation is once again heating up.

Now, NHL Insider Frank Seravall has revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs are shaping up as a favourite to sign the talented right-shot centre who tied his career high in goals with 22 a season ago.

On paper, this could be a good fit for the Maple Leafs, but given the logjam of forwards they've found themselves with this off-season, the signing of Roslovic would no doubt need to come with several corresponding moves to open up a spot for him.

Last season, Roslovic tallied 39 points with the Hurricanes, giving him between 30 and 45 points for the fifth straight year, so while he's not going to be a star anywhere, as a 3C for a good team, he's a great fit.

Ultimately though, with the talent this roster has, there may be no place that the 28-year old Roslovic would thrive more, and with few other teams now interested, the Maple Leafs may be where the talented young forward ends up for the 2025/26 campaign.
