NHL 26 Top 10 Ratings Anger Maple Leafs Fans as Auston Matthews Gets Snubbed
Auston Matthews has had some fantastic years in Toronto, but after he was snubbed of a spot on EA NHL 26's top-10 rated players, Maple Leafs fans aren't happy.
With the release of EA Sports' NHL 26 right around the corner, ratings on the game have slowly been released, and for the most part, fans haven't been surprised by how players around the league have been rated.
However, it hasn't been without controversy, as a social media post revealing the top-10 rated players in the game has drawn some backlash, especially from Toronto Maple Leafs fans.
Matthews Left Out of EA Sports' NHL 26 Elite Rankings
The one glaring omission, according to those fans is Auston Matthews, the Maple Leafs captain that has scored 102 goals over the last two regular seasons, as he is passed on this list by the likes of McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, Makar, Hughes and Kucherov among others.
However, a full investigation of the ratings we've seen released thus far revealed that he is actually tied with Sidney Crosby, David Pastrnak and Connor Hellebuyck, but is simply not featured on this graphic.
Did EA Get It Wrong Leaving Toronto's Superstar Off the List?
That may make things a little easier to stomach for Maple Leafs fans, as they can become very defensive over their star captain, but given the way he's performed in the playoffs, it's easy to see why he's a point or two behind the elite level players in the game.
That's not a knock on Matthews, as he is still among the 15 best players in the National Hockey League and is rated like it on the game, but it was clear this post was made simply to anger fans on social media, as Matthews is likely rated perfectly at 94, tied with the likes of Crosby, Pastrnak and Jack Eichel.
