There's a chance that the Toronto Maple Leafs could live to regret trading Nikita Grebenkin to the Philadelphia Flyers as part of the Scott Laughton trade at last year's Trade Deadline.
The Toronto Maple Leafs wanted to stock up at last year's Trade Deadline, and traded for both
Brandon Carlo from the divisional foe Boston Bruins as well as Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Both players helped the Maple Leafs win just their 2nd postseason series since 2004, but they were beaten by another divisional foe, the Florida Panthers, in 7 games in the ECSF.
Per Flyers analyst Charlie O'Connor, Grebenkin is a "clubhouse favourite" to get a roster spot with the Flyers after his impressive training camp.
Nikita Grebenkin sure looks like the clubhouse favorite to nab an NHL roster spot after a standout showing on Saturday.
Alex Bump and
Jett Luchanko, on the other hand? It's clear they need to show more.

Grebenkin scored as part of the Flyers' preseason win over the Bruins on Saturday.
Did the Maple Leafs pay too high a price for Laughton?
Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving caught some criticism for paying what many believed was too steep of a price for Laughton.
Laughton had only 4 points (2G, 2A) in the 20 games he played for the Maple Leafs following the trade, and didn't make much of an impact either in the postseason.
On the other hand, it looks like Grebenkin could be at the start of a productive career, and the Maple Leafs could eventually live to regret trading him.
