Marc-Andre Fleury bid farewell to the NHL on Saturday, and now, rookie Luca Del Bel Belluz opens up on spoiling the party following his big goal.
On Saturday night, the entire NHL world stood still when Marc-Andre Fleury took the ice for
one final time, a chance to bid farewell with the organization his NHL career began with.
This was an amazing evening for the former No. 1 overall pick, who was showered with love and 'one more year' chants from Penguins fans, as he truly got to soak in all of the love and admiration of the fans.
Luca Del Bel Belluz Scores on Marc-Andre Fleury in Final Shootout: Disrespectful or Not?
After the conclusion of the Penguins win, there was a shootout that would represent Fleury's final time on the ice, and on the third and final shot that 'Flower' would face, Blue Jackets rookie Luca Del Bel Belluz would end it with an impressive shot.
After the game, he was asked about how it felt officially ending Fleury's career with that shot, he felt great about the shot, but on the road in Pittsburgh, he notes that he felt as though he ruined the party for Fleury.
It was obviously good that I scored. But yeah, I feel like I kind of ruined the party for him there.
Ultimately though, Del Bel Belluz is trying to push for a spot on the Blue Jackets roster, so everyone, including Fleury would have expected him to go hard in this situation, and while it marked the end of an NHL career, at the end of the day, it will have no effect on Fleury's legacy.
