It's a double whammy for the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight against the divisional foe Boston Bruins, as they've lost both Auston Matthews and Anthony Stolarz.
There's not much going right tonight for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the divisional foe Boston Bruins.
Not only are they losing on the scoreboard, but they've also now lost two of the most important members of the team. Both Auston Matthews and Anthony Stolarz have been ruled out for the rest of the game.
Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews (lower body) and goaltender Anthony Stolarz (upper body) will not return to tonight's game.
It's also the second straight game that Stolarz has been unable to finish, as he was pulled during Saturday's loss, also against the Bruins.
Because Joseph Woll isn't in playing shape yet, Dennis Hildeby has now appeared in three straight games for the Maple Leafs. They don't have Cayden Primeau anymore, as he was waived and claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Anthony Stolarz Has Now Been Unable To Finish Two Straight Games
Stolarz wasn't able to finish Saturday's game, a 5-3 loss to the Bruins at Scotiabank Arena.
He was awesome, I put him in a s--- situation. He came in, handled it like a good pro, played well, and just tried to give him confidence on the bench. He's an easy guy to talk to and he talks back to me on the bench, as well, so kudos to him for coming in, playing a solid game and giving us a chance. - Anthony Stolarz
So far this year, Stolarz is 6-5-1 with a subpar .889 SV%.
