Joe Bowen bashes Maple Leafs crowd for lack of passion during Game 3
Last night the Toronto Maple Leafs got the opportunity to play their first game at home in the 2024 NHL playoffs. For many fanbases, this would be an opportunity to show their excitement. However, Maple Leafs announcer Joe Bowen believes the crowd did not show enough love.
Over the last several years the crowd inside of Scotiabank Arena in Toronto has become a topic of conversation. The Maple Leafs are well known for having many corporate ticket buyers which drive prices up. In the playoffs, these fans often also do not bring the passion that is expected.
After last night's game Maple Leafs announcer Joe Bowen put out a post on social media about the crowd. Specifically about how inactive and quiet the crowd was during such an exciting game.
The idea of going
To any sporting event
To support the home team is to
Be PRO ACTIVE!!!
Give the team energy when they need it Not sitting down waiting
To be REACTIVE. The players can't say it but I will tonight's crowd was VERY DISAPPOINTING
In the replies to the post on X from Joe Bowen several season ticket holders came out and said the ridiculous new prices barred even them from getting tickets.
Joe. When you charge $600 for a lower bowl seat, the real fans aren't attending.
I have had season tickets for 8 years and can't afford my own seats in the playoffs. It's ridiculous.
My family has had season seats since 1937 and this was the first ever year we couldn't afford playoff seats. They priced season seat holders out.
This is a major issue that the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to need to look into going forward. Season ticket holders and everyday fans not being able to afford playoff tickets is absurd.
