Legendary NHL play-by-play caller Bob Cole passes away
Bob Cole, the legendary NHL play-by-play caller for CBC, passed away on in St. John, Wednesday night, at 90 years old.
Cole has been the voice of thousands of hockey games for the past 50 years. He'll always be remembered for his classic catchphrase "Oh, Baby!"
He retired in 2019, his last game being between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Montreal Canadiens.
Back then, captains Steven Stamkos and John Tavares had great words concerning him and his impressive career:
"His voice is iconic. It's all I associated with watching hockey growing up. He has a close spot in a lot of Canadians' hearts over the years." - Steven Stamkos
"That was the guy you grew up listening to." - John Tavares
We send our condolences to his friends, family, and all sports fans in Canada touched by that terrible loss.
Do you think Bob Cole is the best caller of all time?
Details will follow.
