Elliotte Friedman reveals more details on Matthew Knies deadline trade report

NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman said that the Toronto Maple Leafs have shown interest in trading Matthew Knies and there was a chance he could have been moved at the trade deadline.
There were a few moves made by the Toronto Maple Leafs at last week's trade deadline, as Leafs GM Brad Treliving sent Bobby McMann to the Seattle Kraken and Scott Laughton, who they acquired last year from the Philadelphia Flyers, to the Los Angeles Kings.
There were even a few rumours surrounding Auston Matthews and his long-term future with the team, though he remains with the team for now.
There were multiple reports about the potential of Matthew Knies being traded, and even though he didn't move, there remains the possibility that the opportunity comes again to move him.
Per the latest report from NHL analyst Frank Seravalli, there have been moments when the Maple Leafs have been "intrigued" about a trade of Knies.

So far this year, Knies has 51 points (16G, 35A) in 62 games.
Matthew Knies Was Involved In Trade Rumours
Knies was taken with the 57th overall pick by the Maple Leafs in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, and they recently re-signed him to a multi year extension.
He's widely been seen as a building block piece for the Leafs and his role increased after the sign and trade of Mitch Marner last summer to the Vegas Golden Knights.
He has 145 points (60G, 85A) in 223 career NHL games, all in a Maple Leafs sweater.
