David Kampf was released by the Maple Leafs recently, and now the veteran forward has narrowed down his future team to three options.
The past few weeks have been a roller coaster for David Kampf and the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he was placed on waivers and re-assigned to the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies.
However, Kampf was weighing up his future in hockey, and as a result of not reporting to the team, the Maple Leafs once again
waived him, but this time, it was for the purpose of contract termination.
David Kampf narrowing down his next team to three options
Despite struggling to produce much for Toronto in their bottom-six over the past few seasons, Kampf still plays a solid role in the NHL, and unsurprisingly, that's led to interest in him as a free agent.
Now, according to TSN's Darren Dreger, Kampf and his agent are looking around the landscape of the NHL and weighing up interest, with the 30-year old veteran now narrowing down his next team to just three options.
At this point, it's unclear who those three teams are, but Dreger also revealed that we will have a decision on Kampf tomorrow, meaning we won't have to wait long to see him return to the ice at the top level.
Last season, Kampf tallied 5 goals and 13 points for the Maple Leafs in 59 games played, and while he's not expected to produce points at a very high level, he's a solid penalty killer that can play valuable minutes on the fourth line, so don't be shocked if a contending team end up landing him for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.
