Carter Hart has drawn interest from NHL teams, but according to Darren Dreger, Dillon Dube may be the player most likely to end up with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 2018 World Juniors scandal has come and gone, and now, despite some outrage from fans, the five players involved have all been permitted to return to the NHL later in the 2025/26 season.
Unsurprisingly, most of the attention is on Carter Hart, as the talented goaltender was well on his way to being a genuine star in the NHL, but now, it appears others are drawing interest as well.

Toronto Maple Leafs linked to former Flame Dillon Dube

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, one name to keep a close eye on is former Calgary Flame and the captain of the 2018 Team Canada World Juniors squad, Dillon Dube.
"I wouldn't be at all surprised if Treliving and the Toronto Maple Leafs put their hat in the ring and take a decent swing at Dillon Dubé.

It doesn't mean that Toronto is a frontrunner. It doesn't mean that the Maple Leafs are going to land Dillon Dubé. But I mentioned earlier about their want for a top-six forward. The assumption is that a player like that could come in and fill that role."
This shouldn't come as a major surprise, as GM Brad Treliving was the one who drafted Dube back in 2016 with the Flames, and while he never became a great NHLer, Treliving seemingly believes he could be a top-six player in Toronto.
Through his NHL career, Dube scored 57 goals and 127 points in 325 games played, and now after two years out of the league, it remains to be seen if he can even get back to that level.
Ultimately, it's no surprise that Treliving wants to bring back Dube, and if the team are okay with the potential backlash this move could bring, we may see him as a top-six option in Toronto at some point this season.
