It's been a whirlwind week for goaltender Pheonix Copley, who was traded back to the Kings shortly after being claimed by the Lightning on waivers.

It was quite the week for goaltender Pheonix Copley, who was placed on waivers by the Los Angeles Kings and then claimed by the Tampa Bay Lightning, only to be soon traded right back to the Kings.
He was sent back to the Kings for future consideration, not even 2 weeks after they initially claimed him off waivers.
Per a report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, there won't be any issues about potential tampering on the Kings' part in bringing him back.

Pheonix Copley is Back With The Kings

Copley was put on waivers by the Kings, who had no choice but to do so, and their acquisition of him right back means they never intended to lose him in the 1st place.
The Lightning wanted some depth goaltending after starter Andrei Vasilevskiy was recovering from an injury in training camp, but now that he's back and ready to go, Copley was once again expendable.
Copley was never drafted and instead signed with the Washington Capitals as an undrafted free agent in 2014, but would later be traded to the St. Louis Blues.
In 2017, he was sent right back to the Capitals as part of the Kevin Shattenkirk trade.
He then signed a 1 year deal with the Kings in 2022 and would become an unsung hero in Los Angeles by winning 24 games.
He's gone 44-16-8 in his NHL career with a 2.84 GAA and 3 shutouts.
