The Red Wings have been off to a red-hot start in 2025/26, but now, one of their key pieces in Patrick Kane has gone down ahead of a big road trip.
Through six games this season, the Detroit Red Wings have been firing, posting a record of 5-1-0 as Head Coach Todd McLellan has his team humming early in the 2025/26 campaign.
They've played just one road game in that time, a victory in Toronto, but now ahead of a road trip that will see them take on the Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders, they've suffered a potentially brutal loss.
Patrick Kane to Miss Upcoming Two-Game Road Trip
Recently, it was revealed that veteran forward Patrick Kane suffered an injury, with some reporters in Detroit suggesting that the injury is much worse than some intially feared.
Now, the team have
officially confirmed that Kane will miss the next two games with an injury, stating that he won't travel on their two-game trip before being reevaluated ahead of their next home game against the St. Louis Blues.
In five games thus far, Kane has been a key contributor for Detroit, posting 2 goals and 5 points in that time, and while the expectation isn't for this to be a long-term injury, any absence for the 36-year old star isn't ideal.
For now, the Red Wings have the depth and star power up front to handle Kane's absence, but if it goes on any longer, it could be a brutal blow for their season, so Red Wings fans will be holding their breath ahead of an update on Kane's situation later in the week.
