St. Louis Blues reportedly place two players worth combined $14.5 million annually on the trade block
The St. Louis Blues are seemingly on the cusp of a rebuild, and now, according to reports, they're ready to move on from Pavel Buchnevich and Brayden Schenn.
Last season, the St. Louis Blues shocked everyone in the National Hockey League when they rode a white-hot second half of the season into the final Wild Card spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While they unsurprisingly fell short in the post-season, many believed that they could continue that momentum in 2025/26 into becoming a genuine playoff contender, but thus far, none of that has happened.
Through 36 games played, the Blues are sitting at 13-15-8, and after seeing a flurry of trades on Friday night, it appears as though they're ready to make some big moves as well.
Two top veterans on the trade block
According to reports from Chris Johnston, the team are not only considering moving Pavel Buchnevich, but Brayden Schenn as well, with the team believing they could get solid returns for both of their veterans.
On paper, these are two guys that a team could be built around if the right pieces are in place, but given that it took the Blues a miracle run a year ago to just lose in the first round, it's clear that they don't yet have the pieces to be a true contender.
If they play their cards right here, they should get a solid return for both Schenn and Buchnevich, and if they can manage to get some future assets that they can parlay into more younger talent, it will be a no-brainer play to trade both of their veterans.
