Longtime NHLer Ryan Suter Eyeing Next NHL Team Amid Retirement Rumours

Longtime NHL defenseman Ryan Suter, who played 2024-25 with the St. Louis Blues, is looking for his next team after playing in all 82 games.
What does the future hold for veteran defenseman Ryan Suter?
At 40 years of age, he likely doesn't have much hockey left in him despite appearing in all 82 games with the St. Louis Blues this year.
Suter had been bought out of the last year of his contract with the Dallas Stars and joined the Blues with a 1-year deal last summer, and provided veteran leadership and a veteran presence on the blue line.
Suter, who appeared in his 1,500th game this year, may not have very many options if he wants to continue his NHL career.
Per Blues journalist Andy Strickland, Suter would be open to another year in the NHL but only under the right circumstances for himself and his family.
Ryan Suter, who played in all 82 games with St. Louis last season, hasn't officially decided if he'll play this coming year or not. Under the right circumstances, in the right situation, he would consider playing another season. Has to be the right fit and make sense for he and his family.
Shortly before appearing in his milestone game, Suter said that he's loved his time with the Blues and has enjoyed the growth process of playing with his new teammates.
It's been great. These guys have opened up to me. We have some good conversations, there's a great mixture of younger guys, older guys, it's honestly been a lot of fun. I've really enjoyed it. We're inconsistent on the ice, which I think is frustrating for all of us, but I think this team has a lot of potential and I think we're right there. We've been in some really good games and haven't found a way to close them out. I think that's part of growing, and hopefully we can get to that here soon and put something together for the rest of the year.
He began his career with the Nashville Predators and also played several years for the Minnesota Wild after signing a massive 13-year contract along with Zach Parise in 2012.
