Jordan Binnington has recently been linked to the Edmonton Oilers, but according to Insider Andy Strickland, that's a team that remains on his no-trade list.
Over the past few weeks, talks have picked up around the Edmonton Oilers and their desire to add a goaltender
following the struggles of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard early in the year.
Names such as Tristan Jarry and Jordan Binnington have been thrown around as potential options for the Oilers, and given his Stanley Cup pedigree, the latter makes perfect sense as they seek their third straight Stanley Cup Finals appearance.
Jordan Binnington to refuse a trade to the Oilers
Now however, NHL Insider Andy Strickland has a dropped a bombshell, reporting that according to his knowledge, the Oilers are one of the teams currently on the veteran goaltenders no-trade list.
That comes on the latest episode of the
Cam and Strick Podcast, a show that also featured former Dallas Stars Head Coach Peter DeBoer and former long-time NHLer Jordin Tootoo, with Strickland revealing that unless something has changed, Binnington could and likely would reject a trade to Edmonton.
This season, Binnington has been rock solid for a struggling Blues team, and while the numbers sit at a 3.20 GAA and an .878 save percentage, he's got the pedigree of performing in the biggest moments, something this Oilers team desperately need.
If this report is true, that narrows down potential goaltending targets for the Oilers, with Tristan Jarry the only other proven name that has been linked to the team in recent times, with this recent news potentially changing everything about the team's search for an upgrade.
