Sidney Crosby's Agent Accused of Publicly Pressuring Kyle Dubas to Stray From Penguins Rebuild
The agent for Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, Pat Brisson, has been accused of trying to publicly pressure GM Kyle Dubas to stray from their rebuild.
Things are rough right now for the Pittsburgh Penguins, as not only are they not considered in any way, shape or form a contender for the Stanley Cup, but by most projections, are expected to miss the postseason for what would be the 4th straight year.
The 3 year postseason drought is already the longest of the career of Sidney Crosby and his longtime teammate Evgeni Malkin.
Now, reports are emerging that Crosby's agent, Pat Brisson, has been trying to pressure Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas to stray from the rebuilding process.
Per Penguins analyst Josh Yohe of The Athletic, it's not the 1st time that Brisson has done so.
With his comments, Brisson seemed to be publicly pressuring Dubas. Crosby is 38. The Penguins are in the early stages of a long-game rebuild. The clock is ticking, and Brisson is well aware.
This isn't the first time Brisson has put pressure on the Penguins. It's actually been pretty common over the years, dating back to the Jim Rutherford era. Brisson is consistently in conversation with Penguins brass, more than your typical agent. He's the most powerful agent in hockey. His client is the most powerful player in hockey. Brisson has a lot of influence, and he's wielding it.

Sidney Crosby does not want the Penguins to tank
There are some who believe that the potential strategy of Dubas is to intentionally tank the year in order to maximize the number of losses, thereby maximizing the chances of their winning the 2026 NHL Draft Lottery.
Crosby was asked directly about it and said that's not what he signed up to play the game for, showing he clearly would not endorse such an action.
The projected No. 1 pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft is Gavin McKenna, who is playing in Pennsylvania at Penn State this year.
