Carter Hart Will Refuse to Sign With One Specific Frontrunner Team
The Philadelphia Flyers gave Carter Hart his NHL start, but ahead of his NHL return, he's told the team that he'd like a 'fresh start' elsewhere.
At 27-years old, Carter Hart is set to return to the NHL, likely this upcoming season after Gary Bettman and the league approved for his and the five players involved in the 2018 World Juniors scandal to return to the NHL.
It's unclear what level of interest the other four are drawing, but according to speculation around the NHL, Hart is gaining interest from many teams about a potential contract in free agency.
Hart rules out a return to his former team
We already know that the Edmonton Oilers and Columbus Blue Jacketsaren't interested, with Hart also reportedly preferring to stay in the United States rather than return to a Canadian team, meaning that we can likely already rule out eight teams in the league.
Now, another can be ruled out after recent comments from Philadelphia Flyers GM Danny Briere, who revealed that Hart's agent reached out to inform him that the goaltender is looking for a 'fresh start', meaning a return to Philly can be officially ruled out.
It was always unlikely that Hart was going to return to Philadelphia given the way that he departed the team, but now, with Briere's confirmation, the teams potentially set to give Hart a second chance in the NHL begin to dwindle.
However, the 27-year old remains a very good goaltender, and if he can regain the form he was showing with the Flyers before his 18-month absence from the league, there's no doubting that a team is going to stomach the potential backlash and give him a deal heading into 2025/26.
