Filip Hallander is a name to watch in the future for Pittsburgh, but now he's set to miss time due to a very scary issue with blood clotting.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a red-hot start in 2025/26, and while their big names are performing as always, they continue to get immense play from the depth and the underrated names on their roster.
One of those players is former second-round draft pick Filip Hallander, who appears to have finally found a full-time role with the team as he appeared in 13 games to start this season, already the most in his NHL career.
In that time, Hallander tallied 1 goal and 4 points, solid production out of a bottom-six forward, but now the team have announced some dreadful news on the 25-year old forward.
Filip Hallander Set To Miss Three Months of Action
According to the team, Hallander is having an
issue with blood clots, and in a recent announcement on social media, the team noted that he will be out for up to three months as a result.
This is brutal timing for Hallander, who was clearly starting to find his footing in the NHL, but of course, health comes first for any player in the league, and with the team at UPMC set to take care of him, there's plenty of optimism that he'll be back on the ice at 100% in the near future.
For Pittsburgh, this is another in a string of injuries and absences that may hamper their hot start to the new year, but if they can stay in the fight long enough to get healthy, this is a team that could shock the NHL world in 2025/26.
