Sidney Crosby's future has been talked about a lot this summer, but now John Shannon has predicted he won't leave Pittsburgh, ignoring comparisons to Ray Bourque.
For the past two decades, Sidney Crosby has been the face of the Pittsburgh Penguins, leading this organization to three Stanley Cups while becoming one of the greatest players to ever touch the ice in the National Hockey League.
However, with the team missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for three straight seasons, questions have arisen about his future, with many predicting that he could one day leave the Penguins.
Could Sidney Crosby leave the Pittsburgh Penguins?
To this point in time, Crosby has ignored all rumours about his future, with many believing that it's entirely up to him whether he goes or stays, with GM Kyle Dubas willing to work with him on the future that he decides upon in the NHL.
With over 1,500 games under his belt and three Cups, Crosby has done everything he can for this organization, and while some believe that he could chase another Stanley Cup, winning three in Pittsburgh means he could in fact be more likely to stay.
John Shannon Rejects comparisons to Ray Bourque with Crosby
In a recent episode of the
Sekeres and Price Show, John Shannon rejected any comparisons to Ray Bourque, noting that he had yet to win a Cup before departing Boston for Colorado, and with Crosby already winning three, Shannon believes he's bound to retire in Pittsburgh.
Ultimately, nobody but Crosby knows what his future holds at this point, but with the Olympic Games coming up and the chance to have his Penguins contending again before retirement, Shannon is among many that believe Crosby will remain loyal to his current team.
