Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet, in his 1st season behind the Philadelphia bench, is demanding more out of his team after their most recent loss.

The Philadelphia Flyers are tied for last place in the Metropolitan Division after their most recent loss.
They were beaten 2-1 by the Calgary Flames, who came into the game with a 2-9-1 record, on Sunday. They also had only 17 shots during the game, and are ranked 31st overall in the NHL among the 32 teams in total average shots per game.
Head coach Rick Tocchet, in his 1st year behind the Flyers bench, wants to see more pucks to the net, especially if his team has any realistic goal of playing hockey in April and May.
At the end there, we have a guy in the slot, and two guys go to the side of the net, and the goalie makes the save, but nobody's in front of the net.

We haven't had practice the last couple of days, three days, I think we're going to have to do a lot of net front drills, like, almost constantly. We're going to have to get it ingrained in these guys. It's hard to win in this league. If you want to play in April or May and stuff like that, you've got to play hard hockey. - Rick Tocchet

Rick Tocchet's Teams Don't Average A Ton Of Shots In Recent Years

There is a concerning stat that was released recently about the average number of shots that teams coached by Rick Tocchet have averaged.
In 2020-21, the Arizona Coyotes were ranked 29th overall with an average of 27.5 shots per game. In 2023-24, the Vancouver Canucks were ranked 26th overall with 28.4 shots per game.
Last year, the Canucks were 31st overall with 25.5 shots per game. And this year, the Flyers are 31st overall with an average of just 24 shots per game.
