The time of Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner with the team could be coming to an end, and they may be considering a trade of the pending UFA.

After losing in each of the last two Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers, most believed that the Edmonton Oilers would make a change in goal, but no move was made.
The Oilers decided to keep things as they are, and entered the new year with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard. But how much longer Skinner has in an Oilers sweater is being debated.
NHL analyst Ryan Rishaug recently joined Bob Staffer on OilersNOW and said that if there's an opportunity for Oilers GM Stan Bowman to trade Skinner, he should take it.
Here's the situation as I see it: If a deal comes up that allows Stan Bowman to make a trade tomorrow, that he knows in his gut is going to be an upgrade in net and it involves moving from Stuart Skinner, it's done, it's done, no question. I don't think that deal is going to happen, I don't think there's a deal to be had. I don't think there would be a second's hesitation to do the deal if he knew he could improve that position tomorrow. Why would he hesitate?

So far this year, Skinner is 4-3-2 with a .900 SV% and a shutout.

Stuart Skinner Is A Pending UFA After This Year

Skinner is a pending UFA after this year, as is Pickard.
The Oilers were previously linked to goaltenders like John Gibson and Carter Hart, but Gibson was traded to the Detroit Red Wings from the Anaheim Ducks over the summer, while Hart has now signed with the Vegas Golden Knights.
There was even some speculation that the Oilers could try and entice Marc-Andre Fleury to play another year in the NHL, but that didn't happen.
