The Philadelphia Flyers have had a tough run in 2024/25, and now, it appears John Tortorella's days may be over after he gets brutally honest about the year, taking full responsibility for the teams overall struggles.
After adding
Matvei Michkov to a team that showed immense potential a year ago, much was expected of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2024/25, with many expecting them to take another step and remain competitive in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race.
Unfortunately, they currently sit well out of the race with a 28-36-9 record on the season, with just a matter of days until they're officially eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoffs contention.
The struggles are clearly weighing on Head Coach John Tortorella, who surprisingly got brutally honest after the teams latest loss, taking full responsibility for the way they've played this year.
"This falls on me. I'm not really interested in learning how to coach in this type of season, where we're at right now. But I have to do a better job. So this falls on me, getting the team prepared to play the proper way until we get to the end."
Perhaps the most interesting part of his comments was that he's not interested in learning how to coach in a season where they've struggled, as he simply wants to coach a team that's going to compete every night, and even with some intriguing talent, they've just not done that in 2024/25.
This is the third season for Tortorella in charge of the Flyers, and unfortunately for the team they've simply not taken the steps forward he would have expected or hoped, and with the team likely not to make big moves this summer, this could be the last few weeks that we see of Torts behind the Flyers bench.
