Per a new report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, Artemi Panarin's agent is steadfast in wanting to get a new contract extension wherever his client goes from the New York Rangers.

It likely will not be long before the New York Rangers trade away Artemi Panarin, who is not only in the last year of his deal but has also been told by Rangers GM Chris Drury that he will not be re-signed by the team to a new contract.
Panarin has since been held out of Rangers games because of "roster management", signaling that a trade could be imminent.
There are several teams that are jockeying for position to try and get Panarin, but per a new report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, there will be a condition on acquiring him.
Per Friedman in his latest '32 Thoughts' podcast, Panarin's agent, Paul Theophanis, is steadfast in wanting an extension for his client at whatever destination he goes to from the Rangers.
Paul Theophanis, is driving a lot of this bus because it's been made pretty clear that he wants this to happen with an extension. He doesn't want to go twice. He only wants to go once. - Elliotte Friedman
This means that Panarin isn't interested in just being a simple rental acquisition and would like to not only go to a Stanley Cup contender, but to remain there for the next phase of his career.
Panarin, who has gone twice to the Eastern Conference Final with the Rangers, has never won the Cup.

Artemi Panarin Will Be Moved By The Rangers

The Rangers, who are on track to once again miss the playoffs for the second year in a row, have already recently traded away names like Jacob Trouba, Chris Kreider, and Filip Chytil.
In a letter to Rangers fans, GM Chris Drury announced that as part of their upcoming retooling process, it will involve trading away more than a few names that the fans love cheering for.
The deadline this year is March 6, and Panarin could be gone before then.
