Jack Hughes has been unlucky with injury in 2025/26, but after suffering another setback, he isn't in danger of missing the Olympics for the United States.
Heading into the 2026 Olympic Games, the United States have put together arguably the tournaments strongest and deepest team, with superstars on each and every line in what may be one of the biggest tournaments in hockey history.
However, like most teams heading into the tournament, they've dealt with plenty of injuries, and recently, Jack Hughes departed a game against the Nashville Predators with an injury, as some feared he could miss the Olympics as a result.
USA get positive update on Jack Hughes
While Hughes is still being evaluated, Head Coach Sheldon Keefe has given an update on his situation, with NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun revealing that he isn't in danger of missing the Olympics as of right now.
The only update is that he’s still getting evaluated. In the next little bit, he’s going to get some imaging and get a better idea of what’s happening. Until we have those results we won’t know his status in terms of travel and the situation going forward. - Sheldon Keefe on Hughes
As of right now, Hughes is likely to be a top-six forward for the United States, as he, alongside brother Quinn are set to play key roles for a team desperate to win gold following their tight loss in the gold medal game of the Four Nations.
Ultimately, to have that success, Hughes is a player that they need to have healthy, and while the injury and his return timeline have not yet been revealed, this is certainly a positive update ahead of the Olympics.
