Artemi Panarin is ready for a new deal elsewhere, but according to reports, a $36 million extension won't cut it for the 34-year old New York Rangers star.
Over the past 24 hours, talk around New York Rangers superstar Artemi Panarin has picked up in a big way, and with the team making him a healthy scratch until a deal gets done, we should see him traded in the coming weeks, if not days.
While the team has struggled a little around Panarin, he has continued to produce at a high level in 2025/26, putting up 19 goals and 57 points in 52 games played, so it's little surprise that several contending teams are interested in the talented winger.
Panarin wants massive extension as part of a trade
The one thing making a trade more difficult however is the fact that Panarin wants any trade to come with an extension, with the likes of San Jose, Los Angeles, Washington and Carolina all clearly interested.
However, two of those teams may find themselves out of the race for Panarin soon, as both LA and Washington were willing to do a three-year, $36 million deal, but according to The Fourth Period, that's not enough.
In his latest report, David Pagnotta has revealed that Panarin wants a four-year deal minimum on his next contract, with the 34-year old wanting at least $11 million per season over that stretch, adding up to $44 million over the life span of a deal.
As of right now, it's unclear if the Kings or Capitals would up their offer to what Panarin wants, but with others like Utah, Detroit and Dallas all circling, it's safe to say that the former 120-point scorer is going to get a massive new contract whenever he gets traded.
