'Lurking in the weeds': One metro team reportedly trying to make a big trade
The New York Rangers are reportedly looking to make a trade per a new report from NHL analyst David Pagnotta, who said that they are "lurking in the weeds".
The New York Rangers are a team that continues to struggle with consistency issues since new coach Mike Sullivan took over behind the bench for the fired Peter Laviolette, who was let go by GM Chris Drury over the summer.
The Rangers, who already have made several notable trades that included the departures of players like Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba while bringing back former draft pick JT Miller into the fold, could be on the verge of another move.
Per analyst David Pagnotta, the Rangers are said to be "lurking in the weeds" and could soon make another move.
David Pagnotta: Re Rangers: They're another team to keep an eye on, that could be lurking in the weeds to see how can we make a big addition here; it sounds like they're willing to move out some of their significant assets in order to do it - Daily Faceoff Live (12/18)
Right now, the Rangers are in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division standings, only three points ahead of the Pittsburgh Penguins and six points ahead of the last place Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Rangers Have Already Set A Dismal NHL Record This Year
The Rangers shocked their fans and the rest of the hockey world when they failed to score a single goal in each of their first three home games games at Madison Square Garden.
Since then, they've been shut out on home ice three more times, becoming the first team in NHL history to fail to score a goal in six of their first 17 home games, which has never happened to another team before.
They are experiencing serious offensive issues, as they've scored one goal or fewer in 13 of their 35 games, including 10 of 17 on home ice.
