An Artemi Panarin trade appears to be coming in the next few days or weeks, and now, the San Jose Sharks have emerged as a genuine landing spot.

The New York Rangers were hoping to turn things around in 2025/26 with the change of captain and Head Coach, but unfortunately, things haven't gotten much better, with the team now sitting 28th in the overall NHL standings.
That has led to plenty of trade chatter, and on Wednesday, the team surprisingly scratched Artemi Panarin for trade related reasons, meaning he will be moved sometime in the near future.

San Jose Sharks emerge as landing spot for Panarin

Over the past few weeks, many contending teams have emerged as potential landing spots for Panarin, but then, on Wednesday, a report revealed that he would like to have an extension as part of any trade deadline deal.
That has ruled out plenty of contenders, but now, the San Jose Sharks are reportedly emerging as a team that could not only land him, but give an extension as well, and in that report, it reveals that he's open to that idea.
That all comes from Sharks reporter Sheng Peng, and while it's unclear if the Sharks and Rangers have discussed a trade over Panarin, things will likely heat up around the team in the coming weeks, especially if he's open to signing long-term with the young core.
Ultimately, this is a Sharks team that's taken a major leap forward this season, and with a superstar like Macklin Celebrini leading the way, adding a point-per-game scorer like Panarin would be fantastic for their young core, so now, only time will tell if they can get it done.
