Patrick Roy Throws His Player Under the Bus With Shocking Comments
New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy singled out one of his players following a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay, calling him 'God awful' and lucky to be in the lineup.
Members of the New York Islanders are clearly frustrated with their season as Bo Horvat recently put a reporter on blast following a loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
Now, Isles head coach Patrick Roy is getting in on the action, blasting one of his own players after a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lighting.
Forward Anthony Duclair played around 12 minutes of the game against the Bolts, with Roy benching him for long stretches. Asked why that happened, Roy didn't hold back at all.
"He was God awful. He was God awful. He had a bad game. That's why I didn't play him a lot. And he's lucky to be in the lineup.
Sorry if I lose it on him right now, but that's how I feel."

Roy wasn't done there. Asked what Duclair was doing wrong, Roy insisted it was pretty much everything.
"He's not skating, he's not competing, he's not moving his feet. He's not playing up to what we expect from him.
I think it's an effort thing."

As pointed out by reporter Rob Taub, Roy's comments were cut from the video posted by the New York Islanders PR team following the 4-1 loss.
The loss leaves the Islanders 5 points behind the Montreal Canadiens for the last wild card sport in the Eastern Conference with just eight games left in the regular season.
