The Vancouver Canucks are in must-win mode for the remainder of 2025, and now, they've suffered a brutal loss to their lineup that they may not be able to overcome.
This season has been a wild ride for the Vancouver Canucks, and with the team on the edge of falling out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs race in the Western Conference, they've now suffered the blow that may end their season.
Unfortunately, EP40 isn't yet back, and now Head Coach Rick Tocchet has revealed some bad news on Chytil, predicting that he won't be back for the remainder of the 2024/25 regular season.
While Tocchet didn't 100% say he won't be back, his comments were that the 'odds are against it', and given his history of concussion issues, it's better to not bring him back, especially with the St. Louis Blues likely running away with the final Wild Card spot in the West.
In 15 games with Vancouver, Chytil tallied 2 goals and 6 points alongside a -11 differential, so while they'll still see him as a key piece of their middle-six moving forward, with the team six points out of the final spot in the West, it's better to save him for next year.
This is a very tough break for Chytil, who has played more than 65 games just twice in his NHL career thus far due to injuries, but if he can get healthy over the summer, there's still optimism in Vancouver that they could have a key piece of their future locked up for years to come.
