NHL Personality Reveals Just How Personal Things Got Between John Tortorella And Cam York

The Philadelphia Flyers firing John Tortorella has become one of the biggest stories in the NHL, as it was an alleged altercation between he and Cam York that led to the team making the decision.

York was punished the next game by dressing but not once leaving the bench to get on the ice, and now he admits fault for his role in the firing of the veteran Flyers Head Coach.

Now however, a new wrinkle has been added to the story, as Ryan Whitney and Keith Yandle of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast have revealed one of the things that Torts said to York around the time of the altercation.

According to the hosts, who have solid connections in the NHL, especially with Yandle to Philadelphia, Tortorella threatened that if York remained a Flyer, he would bury him as long as he was the Head Coach.

If that is true, it's quite the thing to threaten a player with, especially given the talent that York has for the future of the Philadelphia Flyers, and this is just another example of Tortorella's coaching style not being built for young players or the modern age.

York himself has handled the situation quite well, as he has not stooped to the level that many would hope to officially tell his side of the story, so while we may never know exactly what happened in its entirety, it's safe to say that if this is the type of thing that Tortorella was threatening him with, it's easy to see why the Flyers moved on in favour of their young core.
