Dmitri Orlov has been surrounded with rumours of an NHL departure, but now, he's directly addressed those on social media, stating that he isn't going anywhere.
The Carolina Hurricanes have a great chance at making a deep Stanley Cup run in 2024/25, and with such a loaded team with the blend of youth and experience, this is a team that nobody in the Eastern Conference wants to see.
Whatever happens in the future, the team is focused on the here and now, but sometimes, outside noise as a professional athlete can be simply too much to ignore.
That's what recently happened for 33-year old defenseman Dmitri Orlov, who saw rumours of him returning to Russia to continue his hockey career swirling online, and he took immediately to Instagram to shut that down.
"These rumors about my signing in Russia are not true".
As the caption mentions, most players would simply ignore that, but sometimes it simply becomes easier to address rumours and shut them down than it does to let the talk continue, and Orlov seemingly took that stance as he clarified he has no intentions at this point in heading home.
The veteran blue liner is on pace to play almost every game for Carolina this season, as he already has 6 goals and 26 points in 68 games played, and with his great experience in the biggest moments, he'll be incredibly valuable for this team down the stretch.
While he may choose to head home and play in Russia at some point in his career, Orlov made it clear that's not happening anytime soon, but with his contract up at the end of the 2024/25 season, absolutely anything could happen, even the veteran changing his mind, but for now, he's made his stance clear.
