Lou Lamoriello reveals his future with the New York Islanders
Today New York Islanders head of hockey operations Lou Lamoriello spoke to the media. During his press conference, he revealed the future plans for himself and the organization.
After a disappointing end to the season where the New York Islanders lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, many fans were hoping for change. The Islanders play one of the more boring and low event styles in the NHL and many blame Lou Lamoriello for this.
As a result, many fans have wanted the organization to move on from Lou Lamoriello. Despite this it sounds as though Lou Lamoriello will be returning for next season.
Lou Lamoriello announces he will be back next season. He says that does for Patrick Roy too.
On a more positive note head coach Patrick Roy will also be back. Patrick Roy was brought in partway through last season and turned around the team's fortunes. Now Lou Lamoriello says that the progress they made leaves the team at a good starting point for next season.
«The type of stretch that we really had to do to get in the playoffs was just incredible. That's the sort of starting point to next season.»
Lou Lamoriello and Patrick Roy are already preparing for next season.
With the NHL Draft and the free agency on the horizon, the New York Islanders will have plenty of opportunities to improve their roster before next season. The biggest improvements might come from more time a familiarity with Patrick Roy and his change in style of play.
