It looks as though the NHL dream of New York Islanders goaltending prospect Dmitri Gamzin could be over as he's signed a multi-year deal with CSKA Moscow in the KHL.
Right now, it's looking more and more like the NHL dream for New York Islanders goaltending prospect Dmitri Gamzin has been put on hold.
He's signed a two year deal in the KHL with CSKA Moscow, further delaying his arrival with the Islanders, who already have a pair of Russian goaltenders under contract in Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov.
Two more years of Dmitry Gamzin in CSKA Moscow!

Like Gamzin, Sorokin came out of CSKA Moscow. Gamzin has already put former Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Spencer Martin out of a job in the KHL, and he's also on track to earn KHL goalie of the year honours with the League's best SV% (.933).
Like Gamzin, Islanders Goalie Ilya Sorokin Played For CSKA Moscow
The Islanders are going to have to wait for the NHL debut of Gamzin, who they took with the 115th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Their current starter, Ilya Sorokin, also played for CSKA Moscow, and the Islanders are hoping that Gamzin will eventually have the same kind of career path that Sorokin has had as one of the NHL's best goalies.
The Islanders hold Gamzin's rights indefinitely since he was drafted out of a Russian League.
They'll also have to exercise some patience, considering Gamzin is thriving right now in his native Russia in the KHL.
