Elliotte Friedman Confirms Patrick Roy's Days With the Islanders May Be Numbered After Management Change

After missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs again, the New York Islanders finally made a shock decision on Tuesday, officially announcing that they have moved on from Lou Lamoriello as General Manager.

While most Islanders fans are excited by this news, it comes with plenty of questions, most notably, what happens now with Head Coach Patrick Roy, who famously had some heated interactions with Lamoriello last season.

Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed what the near future holds for Roy, reporting that he will meet with whoever the new General Manager will be, and from there, they will make their decision on his future.

In two seasons with New York, Roy has posted a record of 55-47-17, which certainly isn't terrible, but with so much expectations on his shoulders, it's safe to say that he didn't quite have the impact on this team that many had hoped.

However, if the new GM comes through and believes in him and continues to push a youth movement for this team, the future could be very bright, but with so much change, there's just as much chance that they move on from him when a General Manager is named.

Only time will tell how this plays out however, but with so many question marks over this roster moving forward, what we do know is that however this plays out, the Islanders have some huge changes to make if they want to become a Stanley Cup contender in the near future, so expect them to pick a rebuild or a push for a contention under their new GM.
