However, the Team USA star has ramped up his recovery in recent times, and now, the overwhelming expectation is that we will see him for a significant stretch in the teams first round series against the Florida Panthers.
Now, we've got our latest update on No. 19, as Head Coach Paul Maurice has revealed that Tkachuk will take warmups on Tuesday for Game One, with a decision officially set to be made on his status shortly before the game.
The return of Tkachuk would be an incredible boost to a Panthers lineup that already includes stars like Barkov, Bennett, Marchand, Verhaeghe and Reinhart, and with
Aaron Ekblad set to return as well, this is a team not to be taken lightly despite their struggles in recent times.
As for Tkachuk, before the injury he was absolutely rolling once again, posting an impressive 22 goals and 57 points in 55 games played, and with the expectation that he gets paired up with Bennett and Marchand, this will be one of, if not the best top-six in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
For now though, all eyes will be watching No. 19 in warmups as he looks to get back in a game for the first time since February, and if he can do that, this could be one of the best series we see in 2025 against Tampa Bay.
