Kyle Dubas' exit interview this year was full of interesting moments, but none more so than this strange comment on a potential rebuild in Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Penguins struggled for much of the 2024/25 season, and while they've still got a superstar in Sidney Crosby, it's become clear that they may need to change directions moving forward.
That could be a re-tool or a full on rebuild, with fans split on where they'd like this franchise to go in the coming years, and unsurprisingly, the talk of a tear down rebuild made its way to GM Kyle Dubas.
Now, in his exit interviews for the 2024/25 campaign on Monday, he shocked the media in attendance with this quote on the idea of a full tear down rebuild for the Pittsburgh Penguins:
"You can hope in one hand and shit in the other, and see which one fills up first"
The quote left the media absolutely stunned, and while he made his point, it's safe to say that there's no other General Manager in the league other than Kyle Dubas that would convey their point in such a way.
It's a fair point as well, as teams like Edmonton and Colorado have gone on to success, while others like Buffalo have struggled to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and to go into a rebuild, it would mean moving on from a franchise icon, so it's very easy to see why they'd be hesitant to pull the trigger on that.
Ultimately, this is the type of content you won't see from other General Managers, but Dubas makes a great point, likely signifying that this team will try to continue building around their superstar captain.
