Top young Devils player Simon Nemec comments on being linked to Vancouver in Quinn Hughes trade
Simon Nemec has been linked to Vancouver in Quinn Hughes trade talks, and now the young defenseman has addressed the possibility of being traded.
While we're yet to see a blockbuster trade early in the 2025/26 season, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding the team's at the bottom of the standings, including the Vancouver Canucks.
Of course, most of that chatter revolves around captain Quinn Hughes, whose future has been a major talking point in recent years, with most linking him to the New Jersey Devils, the home of his two brothers, Jack and Luke.
Simon Nemec comments on trade rumours
Those rumours come as no surprise given the relationship between the Hughes', but it's not just them that it effects, as the Devils would need to give back significant assets to land the Canucks captain.
One of the players constantly included in hypothetical deals is young blue liner Simon Nemec, and now, he's opened up on how to deal with this type of talk at such a young age.
I mean it's part of being a hockey player. Something could always happen. I'm trying not to think about it. I don't know if it's true or something. I'm just trying to play hockey and I will see how everything turns out.
Clearly, Nemec loves it in New Jersey, and while he wants to stay, he would be a key piece of any deal involving Hughes, but to his credit, the 21-year old has stayed strong throughout all of this outside chatter.
This season, Nemec is on pace for a career year with 6 goals and 15 points in 29 games, but if the Devils are going to land Hughes, it's safe to say that he would be a key piece in the return.
